The Houston Heights Neighborhood The Heights sits on higher ground, literally. This Houston neighborhood stands more than 60 feet above sea level. It is a closely knit community in the Houston area real estate market that values history and embraces diversity. Oscar Martin Carter, president of the South Texas Land Company, dreamt of an idyllic community far from the hustle and bustle of the Houston metro area. He set out to achieve his dream in 1891.
